Thumbprints took center stage this holiday season and together we made some beautiful pieces, came up with new designs, thought of more ways to gift these and made at least a few Mom's cry .

It's with very mixed emotions that I write this post. After 4 years in our own space in Northboro Heart & Stone will be downsizing and moving. Yes, it true. You can design your own silver pendant at Heart & Stone using a relatively new raw material called Silver Metal Clay. You can read how it all works in a previous blog post I wrote called Creativity is Contagious but the short version is this: They took powered metal and added a binder & water. The metal now has a consistency of clay. Let your imagination run wild for a minute about what you can do with clay that you could not do with a piece of hard metal....

Designing Bracelets...is challenging. From it's inception Heart and Stone personalized charms have always been designed for necklaces. I'm realizing designing charms to hang on a necklace is easy compared to bracelets. Just slide 'em on and slide 'em off the chain....

When we started making thumbprint jewelry we had no idea what it would turn into for us. Every year we participate in our towns Holiday Trolley that travels around bringing families to local businesses. You want to have a great family friendly activity to entice riders to get off at your place of business and check it out. So in 2014 we came up with the idea to have the kids make bronze thumbprint charms (for free!). We thought it would be something fun for the kids to do and really had no idea that we were on to something pretty awesome. After our first trolley day, when we made 80 charms, we were starting to get the idea.

I just had the opportunity to work with a super fun girl scout troop. They wanted to have a metal clay party and make gifts for their troop leaders. They had been together as troop for several years and it was their last year together. The gifts had to be extra special and from the heart. It was A LOT of girls in a very short amount of time so we had to work fast!
